Join us for the Cops and Robbers Challenge April 27, 2013 at Pioneer Stadium in Ogden at 11:00am for a combined 5K run and obstacle course race that has participants dressed as “Cops” chasing other participants dressed as “Robbers” to the finish line.
Biggest Loser Contestant and Weber State University student Jackson Carter will honor Ogden’s fallen and injured officers by running, climbing and roping though an obstacle course in the second annual “Cops and Robbers Challenge” April 27, starting at 11 a.m. at the Pioneer Stadium.
Carter and other participants will dress-up as a cop or a robber and choose a side. Robbers will get a two-minute head start before the good guys and gals chase them through a course that will include a paramilitary-style series of ropes, climbing wall and plenty of mud. Participants will run past fallen Ogden City Police Officer Jared Francom’s grave and Ogden’s scenic river parkway.
Money raised from the event will help establish a public safety grants and scholarships to use toward purchasing equipment, education or additional training.
The Cops and Robbers Challenge was created to raise monies for the families of the six police officers affected in a tragic shooting incident in early January 2012 in Ogden, Utah. All proceeds will benefit charities for fallen and injured local law enforcement officers. This year a portion of the proceeds will help sponsor a future police officer through the Utah Peace Officers Standards and Training Academy, and future proceeds will be used to establish a lasting scholarship and medical fund available to officers and their families.
